Top-heavy Bethy

Heavy luggage has pretty much been the bane of my existence for the past two days. The other girls’ suitcases ended up being just as beastly as mine.

Once we arrived at the Paris airport and picked up our bags, we had to start lugging our suitcases across France. Imagine three girls, each carrying a backpack and two rolling suitcases full of about 100 pounds worth of stuff, dragging their possessions on and off buses, trains, and trams. We’d basically just get our bags into the train with some teamwork and then stand there while French people tried to push their way around us.

Jenny had to keep a hand on one of her suitcases at all times to keep it from falling down. She started calling it “top-heavy Bethy.”

A very nice French fellow named Sebastian met us at the Bordeaux train station and helped us carry our bags upstairs (upstairs!) to the local tram. Once we got to the university, we had to drag our stuff through campus, across gravel parking lots and sidewalks pitted with holes and bumps. My arms felt like they were going to fall off. I think I was a bit delusional at this point; I was convinced that I’d glance behind me and see my luggage on the ground with my arms still attached the handles.

That’s all for now. Check out photos of Bordeaux/the university here.
